Heads of Departments,

The teaching and the non-teaching staff,

Students,

Ladies and Gentlemen.

It is with great delight that I welcome all of you to this august gathering in the month of June. Indeed, today marks another Literary Day in this great citadel of learning, a day specially set aside by the school to celebrate Literary Arts, which is in line with ‘World. Literary Day’ which comes up every 8th of September.

The term Literary is associated with Literature, which is written works of art. One may ask the relationship of what we are showcasing today with Literature, may I let you know that written literature as we have it today, evolved from oral Literature which was in the form of folktales, songs dances, incantations to mention but these. In as much as time would not permit me to delve deeper into the origin of Literature, the Wikipedia Encyclopedia summarized the relationship by saying that, ‘Literature is broadened to include both spoken and song texts’

As we work towards celebrating our own Literary works, we are today going to see re-enactments of works done by others, as well as showcase the great talents of our children.

At this juncture, may I appreciate the school management for this great opportunity given to us to display the stuffs the department is made of. I urge you all to relax and enjoy yourselves, as we gradually unfold the packages we have for you today.

Thanks and remain blessed
